drop in filter problem
drop in filter problem
basically i put in a filter and removed the air box and my car is runnin like absolut ****...sounds great but it is SO SLOW....any way to fix this or should i put back in the stock box
LOL I can assume he meant an aftermarket cone filter.. you have two choices, reset the ECU and let it relearn, and it will eventually run similar to before.. or put the stock airbox back on.. Most people feel a difference because of how the air characteristics are changed with the new filter, it upsets the learned settings in the ECU and runs a bit crappy until you drive it for a few days.. but the imediate sensation is it makes the car slower..
I say put the stock airbox back in and get a good panel filter.. with a bone stock car (or even one a pretty highly modified one) the airbox works well until you have a good reason to remove it (Need clearance for intercooler pipes, or some component in the intake forces you to remove it)

You can either have a drop-in filter (used with the stock air box) or a cone style filter (air box removed) Which one is it? You can't have both.
i dont think you know what you're talking about, evoVIII_4g63 hehe... you're a very confused person
but back to topic... if you can smell fuel, shoot flames during shifts with alot of black smoke, maybe you should have the dealer check it out because i can safely assume your evo is pretty stock. another alternative is to get a simple mail-in ecu flash from dynoflash... it will reduce bogging, reduce boost taper and increase whp by about 15...

I HAVE A ****IN CONE FILTER!!! I WAS TALKING WITH MY FRIEND WHILE TYPING LAST NIGHT ABOUT GETTIN A DROP IN INSTEAD....THAT IS WHY MY TYPING CAME OUT ALL ****ED UP..PLUS I WAS TIRED AND PISSED...now im jus pissed and really cant type that good lol
I have the K&N drop-in. Doesn't really make that much of a difference, maybe a SLIGHT tweak better on the low end, but not much at all. I just like the fact that I can clean it and don't have to buy a new one every time.
look, cone filters mess with the MAF sensor, it has been explained a dozen times or more. Pretty much every tuner camp does not recommend them unless you are able to get tuning or a reflash.
