Some people live in things called apts and do not have the means to wash the car themselves. My apt complex does not allow washing in the complex. Also, it has no faucets. So guess what the result is. I don't even own a garden hose. This is the way it is for MANY people. So open your mind and broaden your horizons. Too many people seem to think the world outside mimics their own. It doesn't. In fact, you may be the one who is weird or different when you think others are. This may come as a shock to you also, but I don't live in NYC/NNJ either!

It's no worse than driving in the rain. I get all kinds of steam coming through the hood when the water splashes on the exhaust manifold

i think mitsubishi r recalling some evo's because they do have a problem of water leaking somewhere on the firewall or through the wipeblade area. call your friendly neighbor dealer and find out.

Yes, in fact, mine is garage kept and has 5K miles and is about 5 months old and the louvers are showing silver spots.

silver spots huh... it can be anything from hard water spots (if you live near mountains), dried up soap, or even some industrial fall-out (if you near near an industrial site).... either way i suggestion removing the louvers and cleaning it w/ some rubbing alchohol

I thought it was anodized. Many harsh chemicals can remove anodizing. It would be a good idea to stay away from any car washes really, the brushy ones molest your paint, and the touchless ones have such harsh chemicals they eat the soft rubber trim moulding.

Yes I meant the louvers, which are metal, and which in fact have lost their black color and are now silver. Cleaning them with rubbling alcohol will not magically bring the color back. My friends Evo is doing the same thing.....
