Evolution and their transmissions

I've basicly been labelled as a know it all by my brother and he likes to tell all his friends....just cuz i'm his younger brother and i can school him about cars(most of it was learned from this site by the way)....anyway....and friend of his and I had a huge argument about evoltuions. He began to state that the EVO 7 comes out the factory with a 6speed tranny. I even went as far as showing him the japanese site and the specs. So i basicly shunned him but now hes saying that there have been evo's that came with 6speed. Now being that i love the evo and have read up on this thing like a savage, i have never seen a evo with 6speed right out the factory. Unless im wrong. Someone clear this up before i kill this kid.

Nope. You're right. I don't think any production Evo has EVER come with a 6spd. I'm pretty sure STi's have a 6spd tranny though.

That's nice. I hope he doesn't think reverse counts as a speed.

Then give him that "why do I have to believe what you say?" We even have some EVO owners here...did/does he own one? Prob no.

Holy smoke! I just remember I came from Hong Kong and I sat in an EVO V before, does that make me qualify as "EVO Guru" now? ...

Tell him to shut his mouth and stop wasting your with him, there are some dumb people just won't be enlighted.........AT ALL.

I feel your pain.

I have an EVO VII, Jap Spec GSR / RS II, and its 5-Speed. The EVO VII never came from the factory as a 6-speed.

Hmm, then whats with all them people though saying that the Evolution coming to the US "better have the AYC/ACD, and the six speed tranny". I dunno but I thought I one time read somewhere that there was an EVO VII with a six speed from the factory. But heck, I don't know. (Maybe im confusing it with the WRX)

Yah, reverse doesn't count....but at least that's better than my friend's driver. They've just crossed a major intersection. As they were accelerating, the driver (driving an A/T) suddenly shifted to "R". The engine died and my friend got mad and asked why he did that. The driver answered back: "we're accelerating, so I shifted it to "RACE"

Nah, I think most people heard that WRC car has 6-speed..so they assumed that it was available on the production model as well
