anything seems to cost more with this car... most of the price inflation is from importing the parts from japan... or it's some unspoken vendor conspiracy... j/k

Naah, they just can't pay some hillbilly in the sticks to make parts for slave wages like they do here-japanese workers make $$$$$ and our currency is so weak compared to the yen

what's a 6g72tt? I've never heard of that one before. I know it must be 6cylinder twin turbo...

http://www.osakajdmmotors.com/other/6g72tt/index.html

must be 3000gt's engine or something.

I would say thats somewhat true. I expected the maintence was gonna be pricey but other cars like the supra, eclipse, 350z all seem to have better deals with prices for aftermarket parts. It just bugs me that a short shifter for our car is 160 bucks on average and the intercooler piping is like 600. I dont even want to get into the exhaust catergory. Maybe we have to wait 10yrs to get dramatic price drops like everyone else. Hurry up with the Evo 9 so we can get some good deals on Evo 8 parts. I actually secound the vendor conspiracy theory

uhm... how is our currency weak compared to yen? it's several tens of thousands of yen for a set of rims... and it's 1600 dollars... why does that seem like a huge disparity? japan has been in like a 10 year recession.

100 yen ~ $1.00

They measure their currency in smaller increments than we do. It'd be like us saying that an oil filter costs 4500 cents.

I use German (not north american) Castrol 0W-30. It's alittle more expensive, and oh god yes I know that Mitsub put Mobil1 in our Evo's from the factory so alot of Evo owners are sheep and convinced that Mobil 1's the only oil you can put in your car, but the the German Carstrol beats mobil 1 in every test performed. check out www.bobistheoilguy.com for all the comparison charts.

yeah, I know what you're saying...

The same Tein suspension kits or HKS exhausts or what have you are all marked up vs say Integra, Civic, Celica...often times even over Supras and FD's...

I thought I was the only one that noticed it...

everytime someone posts..."should I buy a Evo?" I always tell him the aftermarket parts prices are all marked up.

Aren't the transfer cases covered by warranty?

I happen to think parts are rather cheap for these cars when it comes to engine (suspensions another story). Tuned ECU's for 200 is CHEAP, most cars are double or triple that. Full turbo backs for 600 is cheap.
