The Countdown Begins!
No, it looks like their whole server crashed.....I just tried to go to their normal website (www.mitsubishicars.com) and it is also down.

Nice! Did you guys see what the second place prize was for the contest? Frickin American Racing wheels!

Thanks Paul!
MMCA springs a leak!
We have to thank the ever-vigilant www.evolutionm.net for this particular bit of news. It seems that somebody at MMCA had put up a website for the North American Lancer Evolution release, with teasers and a contest to win a new Lancer Evolution. A timer counting down the days to the release was even included - bang on January 1st (ed. Hey, only a day off my birthday!).
While the link went down only a day later, probably as soon as MMCA (Mitsubishi Motors Corporation of America) noticed the traffic to a site that had not been launched yet. But in a further display of foresight, evolutionm.net had copied the entire site to their own server.

The site doesn't give much information on the Lancer Evolution, but it's to be noted that it is called simply the Lancer Evolution, not the Evolution VII or VIII, as was previously thought. This fits in with other information that we've gleaned from sources within the industry. Also, the price of the prize is not to exceed $32,000.
While this came out before MMCA planned, it cannot be too far off from the planned launch date of the site. The contest notes that it will start 10/15. Only a little ways to go!
