Well, I hit my first deer tonight, and the EVO does not look good...

However, I figure I might check to see if this is an opportunity to upgrade some parts on the car (assuming the body shop will work with me on this).

My criteria are:

-replacement part must be of equal or greater strength in relation to stock
-replacement part must be of equal or lesser weight in relation to stock
-replacement part must be of equal or greater performance in relation to stock
-replacement part must look as good as or better than stock
-replacement part must not have too much bling

Here's what I know I will have to replace (or <cringe> repair) so far:

-hood
-driver's side front fender
-driver's side headlight

I figure a carbon fiber hood might be a possibility. However, it must be lighter than stock, even if I decide I want it painted (I'd prefer not to have the extra attention).

I'd like to get some MR style headlights, but I'd have to pay for one of them so I don't know if I'm up for that since I'm looking into getting a house. Maybe I could talk the shop into painting them for a reasonable price.

I haven't attempted to lift the hood yet, so I don't know if there's any other damage underneath. Most of the impact occurred towards the front driver side of the hood.

I'm open to (and would appreciate) any input...have at it guys. I'll post some pix of the damage if I can...

it's generally not possible to paint carbon fiber. but you have a black car anyway, so who cares.

your only real chances for upgrades are if the FMIC, front bumper, front fascia are damaged. everything else you listed is pretty much stock replacement.

I'm looking for recommendations -- do you have any?

I'm looking for good quality stuff that meets my criteria...

carbon hood (gilla, monster sports)
charge speed fenders
MR headlights
front bumper - monster sports is really nice as well as the gialla and cwest

give Adam at Z1 a call. he can get you everything on my list for a very good price. also, you will need to talk to your body shop first and see what they say. once you have a rough figure on how much the repair will cost, you can see what you can afford.

good luck

deer skin recaros?

I couldn't think of anything else that hasn't already been said. I'd say get the MR lights though and a cf hood (but make sure it's full cf, not cf covered)

I was on Brier Creek Parkway -- past the shopping center, back where all the development is still going on...

...and it definitely sux. However, just last week I was complaining about the number of stone chips there were in my paint -- maybe the car gods have been keeping an eye on me?

Any more recommendations from anyone? I'm looking for specifics, like links to parts, etc...

How about a gun rack....haha. I know lots of people that have painted their CF hoods on 2g DSMs with much success. So I see know reason why it would not work the same for an Evo. I would personally keep the body stock though.

Haha...there's plenty of deer fur/hair stuck on the body panels -- I could start collecting it for my future seats...
