850 plus users of this website have looked at this thread, and 109 Evos, mostly 03s modified. That is not too many.
Also, what does stock mean? Good question. A stock Evo is one that does not have modification to improve power or handling, basically the things that can void the warrenty. I know there are some Evos with just body kits, and those are the exceptions to the rule. They are not quite stock. I am sure Mitsubishi could void something.
But the focus is power and handling.
What are others thoughts on this. Does the above sound like a good definition?
Also, keep voting folks. The above numbers of modified Evos only represents 1.26% percent of the total estimated US Evo population and the total is only 1.56%.
-Total population based on 5k to 6k in 03 and 1.7k in 04.

Racer rs X,

Thanks for the explaination of what stock is but I was just kidding when I wrote that. My car is making 366whp on the stock turbo and pump gas and is no where near stock. I've got NO kind of warrenty left

I know what you mean, unfortunately all they have to do is deny my request. I have to fight them every inch of the way and maybe at the end I'll get it fixed.

I agree with you 1000% I'm not generalizing, but most mechanics from dealers doesn't know or refused to diagnose properly what problems you may have anyway.

I agree with you on the level of understanding that US mechanics have of the Evo 8. It worries my to think about bringing the more advanced and complicated MR here. MR owners will have to be very careful.
I guess that is why I am not worried about my warrenty being voided, if the car breaks I will take it to a shop like Dyno4mance or Boost Solutions first before . If I lived out west, I would take it to one of those shops, but not to . It is a bold statement, but has not given me the warm and fuzzies when it comes to this car.
As for the modded poll, it looks like we have less than 200 Evos that have replied. Just makes me wonder where everyone is. I wonder where the RS's are. I have not seen one in person yet.
I know that there are people that are worried about lurking about this web page, but it is safe for the stock Evos to respond.

We're around. But honestly, there are very few of us out on the streeet. The chicago area, for example, has lots of evos, but I've not seen another the only daily driven RS.

That is why I chose the EVO over the STi, there are more parts out there for the Mitsubishi.

This should give you an idea what I did to mine in a span of 5 months !

bone stock- thus far. i traded in a 02 vw new beetle 1.8t double yellow. that damned thing, bought brand new, was in on warranty work close to 15 times in the almost exactely 2 yrs i owned it. the knock sensor alone was replaced three times, in the span of about one year. i dont trust these car companies to make decent shiz much. i will keep it stock until i know it isnt a lemon like the beetle- no pun intended. BTW- this doesnt make me less of an enthusiast, i knew i wouldnt be modding right away, that is why i bought a wicked car to begin with. i am ordering parts, and planning what i am going to do, but i wont put thm on for a while.

engine and drivetrain will stay stock. might put on bigger swaybars, and maybe someday coilovers. no point in modding the engine it's a damn long ways from the fastest thing in my garage. you can count the evos on one hand that today are capable of a faster quartermile than my sportbike and I paid $10k for it 3 years ago.

I'm with you! I have to put a system in, it's what I do for a living and the Evo replaced my Competition car that was totalled while parked @ my store. I bought it because it was the closest thing to a sportbike with a roof and seat for my daughter. No matter what I do, it will be slow compared to my bike.

I'm leaving it stock for now..only 800 miles on it. I cant believe more Evo owners arent aware of this site. When I got interested in buying the Evo, I naturally wanted to get as much info on it as I could and the you'd think the first thing any net saavy person would do is type in "mitsubishi lancer evolution" in Google or any other search engine. This site was listed in the top 3. That's how I got here.

I have to admit that all the warranty and bad clutch threads almost turned me off on the Evo. I'm wondering how many potential customers like myself were in fact turned off by the bad press?
