Alert - Aftermarket Brake Line Failure!

Guys,

I just came back from riding my Evo an hour ago and I need to alert you guys of an aftermarket brake line failure. I installed them few weeks ago and still was in the process braking in my new Evo stock Brembos, my RS has barely 1300 miles.

So, tonight I decided to bedd them in by stomping on the brakes like I have been doing for last week or so. But tonight, while the brakes stopped the car it lost most of its pressure as it came to stop. The brake pedals just gave in when pressed hard and then I saw brake fluids spitting out of front driver side wheel well!!!

I think I was damn lucky there were no cars around.

Anyways, the stainless steel brake lines are "Agency" brand purchased from "Vivid Racing". I got them at low introductory price. I guess you get what you pay for.

But for others with this brand, please be aware and check your lines!!!

I'll take the lines off tomorrow and provide pics soon, it's too dark outside now.

Before you start flaming, yes I did make sure all lines were secured tightly and bleed properly. And I have done many brake line swaps on other cars, that is with other respected brand names.

I'd contact vivid, and the manufacturer directly.

Brake lines rarely fail, and even though yours may have simply been a bad unit, it could be indicative of other serious quality issues. I'd make sure the people in charge know, because last thing we need are these being cheap lines not up to the task, and someone getting hurt as a result.

So what/how did it fail? Did the line burst, come undone?

Thats some scary suff. It doesnt take much for somebody to mis-assemble a steel braided line. I've seen seen failures before & its all do to assembly error.

Glad to hear you didnt hurt yourself or any one else for that matter!!!

Hopefully vivid will pay to have that stain removed from your drivers seat!

Get this, then after my brake gives away, this rice corolla races to the rear of Evo thinking he'll tag after my ****! I thought he was going to rear end me!

Had to give him the bird!

are you sure it's not just yours that's defective?

You should make sure of that before you start to post stuff like this. It may hurt that company for one accidental incident.

No, I always say error on the side of safety. HE NEVER ACCUSED THEM OF DOING ANYTHING WRONG!

Even if its just mine that's defective, then thats one too many!

All I'm saying is that others with this lines check their lines, for their safety!

Maybe you should think about the Evos drivers safety first!!!
