I see alot of this and want to know why

I was wondering why i see the Evo getting sold all the time, is it really that expensive??? or is it just not what its hyped to be???what is the average monthly/ insurance payment being made. Cause in all actually I'm gonna be looking for a used white Evo 8 probably within the next year or so. But if its gonna be a B**ch to afford then I may have second thoughts. So lets hear it.

Insurance isn't bad, it's not like Toyota Echo prices, but not bad.

A lot of it is people buying them, and starting to put $$ into them, then needing it for something else. It seems the most common are for buying a house, having a baby or moving.

The targeted demographic is 23-35 or something. People in that range tend to buy their first house, start families, move, etc!!

Others just want another toy to play with from scratch and move on...

Many things could be said...
1. I have no trouble affording my car and insurance as I knew what I was getting into when I bought the car.
2. Insurance will differ for everyone...see previous threads
3. Some people can afford to jump from car to car with no regrets.
4. If you don't know the answers to alot of your questions, I would suggest further research.
5. In "a year or so"- you should be able to find many good deals on used evos.

Good Luck and remember, when in doubt try the search function. If no luck, ask.

Some people sell out of fear that the car is going to break, and when it does, mitsu has been known to deny warranties on a whim. A broken clutch with labor can cost you 1k, a broken transfer case with labor can cost you 3k+. these cars have a history of premature failure specifically with these two weak points. Others bought the car when it was THE car to have, disregarding the expense, and found after a while that there priorities had changed and didn't need the expensive car anymore. Also some are trading up to the MR, and want to cut what are sure to be substantial monetary losses on a trade.

I think most people overextend themselves when they buy the evo. They are driving a "normal car" and when they buy an evo the only thing they look at is the payment for the car and not the extra expense for insurance, oil, tires, and other misc things. I had a supra for 2 years and I owned the car cash but it still cost me an average of 80 cents a mile including all maintenence, repairs, insurance, gas. People dont see that the car will cost more than just the payment.

One rule of thumb- If the car has a high sticker price and is known as a performance machine, chances are parts and labor will be costly.

You should be able to "know" about how much it will be costing you to finance/insure your new vehicle. I would say, "make sure you do your homework first" before you get yourself over your head in debt but thats no fun. These cars a perfectly affordable and seem like they are maintaining thier value well so its more of a question as to "you" the buyer, being able to afford it. The reason some maybe selling these cars (which I disagree) at a high rate is because they come to find out one of two things about the car that a normal test drive might not reveal. 1) This is a HIGH PERFORAMCE all-wheel-drive car which means its very edgey, touchy, picky, when it comes to drivability (ie. a caged cheetah waiting to spring to freedom :-D ). 2) This one is suspension related, meaning that with a HIGH PERFORAMNCE suspension, it keeps the wheels on the ground and body roll to a minimum for better control. This makes for a rougher then normal ride sometimes. Now all this being said there are also MANY reasons why a person would want one of these awesome cars. There is the herritage of the Evolution series dating all the way back to its days in rallying, a tried and true motor - the 4G63 - which has many application and upgrades already developed for it, or the features that make it unique like the four-wheel-drive and turbo systems. There nothing better then backing into a parking spot and letting the front mount intercooler grill everyone as they walk by. Well, Ive said to much so im done and I hope you make the best decision for you, Ive never regeted my purchase and am financialy secure so it looks like its going to be hang around my drive for a few years... cheers

That's funny, because those are the cars my wife and I drive Our insurance is very low (I think the Evo is basically double the Echo), but we're also married, around 30, own a home, no tickets/accidents, perfect credit, etc... In fact my last car was a Tercel my parents bought me in college (8 years - 180,000miles), and my insurance payments barely went up from that to the Evo. I was actually quite shocked at that, but

I won't tell you what I pay, beacuse it would do you no good. There are guys I know with Evos who are paying like 3 times what I am, just because of their demographic. The Evo does have a lot going for it, though. Dual airbags, AWD, 4 wheel anti-lock disc brakes, etc. Shop around and find out what you would pay before you buy, and that way you'll know if you can handle it.

insurance is not too bad. it usually depends more on where you live and how many tickets you have than on what kind of car you drive (unless its a ferrari or something).

Most of the time people sell them because they are scared about mitsu going down the drain, hmm iam not sure about that, looks? boxy? not sure, insurance, high payments..etc... (why would you buy a car and then sell it after few months) unless its an emergency that you have to, and i bet after few months you will miss that car, because this car is a legend its not some honda civic or toyota carolla, after few years this car will be hard to find. enough said.
