Which would u get?
Which would u get?
I'm parting out my old road race car, w/ the parts for sale (which will sell fast), i should have around $8-9K, and some has to go to a loan, owed $, etc
My friend is selling his '86 Widebody Starion for $1800, needs some motor work, maybe rebuild (slit knock), HKS catback, intake, etc, 89k on it
or there's an EVO II GSR for sale for $3050 w/ 82k on it, catback, intake, pretty bone stock, and I'd have it imported and legallized by a friend's shop for $1500
which would u guys suggest?
Later,
Jay

what about the fact that it's an older EVO, i'm in the States not much backing on them for parts and such, any of those things lead to making it hard to fix/work on over here?
what cars that i might have is it similar too that parts could b used in case something breaks?
i'm familiar w/ the engine i used to have a Eclipse GS-T, the same 4g63-T engine, only it was the FWD set up not the GSX w/ AWD
Thanx,
Jay

Well worth any hassle you may encounter finding parts.
I don't think the Mirages in the US at the same time shared a chassis code with the Evos though. I don't think you're going to have any easy time legalizing it as a Lancer Evolution if you catch my drift.

It's your money and your risk.
You may find yourself stuck having dumped money into a car that ends up being race only. Like I said, it won't be easy. You can't just call it a Mirage and be done with it.

If you want to legalize that EVO II, it would require quite a bit effort to achieve that.
First off, like someone mentioned, the chassis code is different than the mirage during that period of time. (They're similar, but no the same). Unless you're planning on running crash test, it would be difficult to do that with no corresponding US counterpart to the EVO.
If you can live with a race-only EVO, go for it. If you want a street legal car...there will be some problems

It would require breaking the nhtsa importation laws (or bending them if you prefer), possible insurance fraud, or crash testing a bunch of evos for get them legalized.
In other cases, proving they are overwhelmingly similar to an existing car sold normally in the US can be enough.

What would it take to legalize an evo anyway
