file a harassment complaint. even if they don't listen, it has to go on record (be SURE to get the case # for personal evidence!). some cops are just @$$holes in a uniform with a badge. he is a disgrace to his profession.

but please don't everyone go hating cops because this one is an idiot. its little things like this that get blown WAY out of proportion and give police a bad image.

 

Never heard of a wing ticket. Didnt think that a wing on Evo 8 coould be considered obstruction. Since it is factory and they go through all the OEM test and dot approval it will be dismissed. If you still have the catalog from the dealer or the window sticker with options listed show either. Your radio is also not ticketable. A two way radio is not classified as illegal. No front license plate is ticketable. In california it is an afterthought. You can fix it and pay $15 fine.

 

If I were you I would contact there internal affairs department and file a complant. It is the internal affairs job to look into the officer behavior if indeed they are profiling certain people with these cars, ethnic background, age, etc... if anybody that recieved that same ticket in the same area should get together and file a report. Cops are afraid of internal affairs. Good luck guy and bust there a s s. peace.....

Man you must file something with his sup. I can't believe i just read this. I thought WI cops were bad. As many times as I was pulled over in WI I never heard anything about my wing. What did the ticket say on it?

 

basically just one bad cop who is profiling just becuase it is not his cup of tea and is trying to raise money and be a dick. not all cops are bad but this is a waste of time and money! sorry you had to deal with this i say fight it!

 

The cops should go to the dealer and arrest the salespeople for selling contraband. Importation and sale of illegal merchandise is usually worse than just straight ownership or use.

 

first thing you need to do if find out the exact charge you are being charged with, then you need to find out exactly what that charge means (even if you know).

second, get a written explanation of the charge in new york it is your right to know what the charge means.

Good luck to you, and file multiple complaints such as the wing issue. To me the cop pulled you over because you didn't have a front license plate. While he looked at that, he looked inside and found other "suspicious" things to site you for.

 

The exact wording on the ticket is "Rear View Obstruction (Wing)". I am going to fight it just have to figure out exactly how to go about it. Technically its not a fix it ticket which you get a form to fill out from the precinct and can just mail it in with a reciept or documentation it was fixed, but there is nothing to fix or change. I really dont feel like going to court over this either cause that is a huge inconveniance not to mention lost money from taking off work. I was going to try to just take a picture, write a letter explaining what happend and possibly include the phone # for Mitsubishi or a website link showing a picture of the wing on Mitsubishi's site as original equipment. Hopefully that will be enough, i also want something to keep in the glove box stating its legal so i dont deal with this again.

On a side note, a friend of mine was givin a ticket for a stock exhaust also on Long Island. Want to know what the cop said when my friend said it was stock? "Then Mitsubishi illegally imported this car from Japan" HOLY ****, cops here are f u cking morons.

 

I got pulled over once and the cop was real cool. I ran a stop light, didn't mean to. but anyways he pulls me and when he came to the window he was like " nice car have you gotten to many speeding tickets Because this car is sweet" I was wanting to give him a high five are something.

that ticket should be an easy fix. drive down to the station once you get your front plate, go in and talk to his suppervisor. If you bring the proof you need to show that it is a stock option, they should be able to fix this for you. Make sure you don't go in all hot headed, be calm and polite and most cops will be more than willing to listen to what you have to say. good luck man

 

what i do is pull out the owners manual and show them.... i was also questioned on my lights and IC. but the same all i did was pull out my owners manual and show it to them. then i would get released to go on my way.

 

I wouldent go to the station and do that, Its much more amusing humiliating the cop in the courtroom than having it taken care of in private.
