I'll admit right off the bat that I'm very biased: I instruct with the BMW CCA.

I have participated in driver's schools with a bunch of different organizations and I personally feel the CCA is the best...which is why I made the commitment to become an instructor with them. The PCA is almost as good, but they can be a bit snobby (and anyway they won't let you participate unless you also own a Porsche).

The BMW CCA doesn't care what kind of car you drive. These days, many CCA instructors have Evos (like me)! You would be very welcome. If you're in the tri-state area, the NJ Chapter is a great place to start. Great low-key bunch of guys and they run very safe, fun schools at Lime Rock, Summit Point, and Pocono. That would be a terrific place to start.

Sounds like he not only lifted in the turn, but also hit the brakes. Evos are pretty sensitive to trailing throttle oversteer and can snap sideways without much warning (especailly if you're running aggressive alignment specs).

There's the National Capital Chapter. They run events at Summit Point in West Virginia. I think they have a school coming up in mid October.

I did hit the brakes, at that point in time, I though I was going to hit for sure, so I figured the slower i hit the less $$$$ damnage. When In reality I should have pushed on the gas to get out of it, but I don't have that confidence, plus I paniced. Driving school is the next purchase for the EVO.

 

I don't mind driving to NJ if that means I'll be taught by some instructors that also have EVOs. Is that link have any info for the NJ one?

 

Only one God out there and he ain't the evo one... But i'm really glad to hear you made it through without a scratch.. someone had their eye on you... This is a good example for everyone, you can never ever control what happens next.. just pray for the best

 

I see at least one or two Evos plus a couple of STi's at just about every CCA driving school I've been to over the last couple of years. Anyway, it doesn't really matter what kind of car your instructor drives since the basics are all the same. Most of the really fast guys started on relatively underpowered but very well-balanced cars (like the 2002tii, E30, or Miata). Once you learn on a momentum car like that, the Evo becomes a real piece of cake.

Good instruction and a few track days will cure that tendency... you will then truly know what the AWD system can do...

That's a big letdown. Ft Meade - huge army base, I went to Middle school there during last century! (MacArthur Middle School).

Ft Meade is not bad but it's surrounding is, like Odenton, another dump!

I'm just being honest in comparing to other cities, I live just outside of Baltimore. Hopefully, I can get the heck out of here w/ my Evo.
