Installing shift light, where is tach signal wire and mounting suggestions?

I got my new shift light and was planning an install soon, but can anyone tell me where the tach signal wire is? I've heard it's wire #58 but that really means nothing to me.

Also, I like to do stealth mounts, has anyone dug into their AC ducts in the center of the dash? If so, how hard are they to get to and how much junk is in the way? In my corvette I had it in there ala this: http://www.grandsportregistry.com/te...ght/index.html

Thanks for the help,
Sam

curious if it works, I have a small shift light that pin 58 or the pin for the crank position senson fail to work, maybe its the shift light, going to try the tach wire from the cluster.

I'd like to run a shift light. But if I did, I'd like to do a pencil tip sized light. Something small in invisable, but then I can pay attention to road vs my tach.

I've been using shift lights for years now, After my first one I came to really rely on them to keep my eyes on the road at all times. I pulled my dash apart today to check on fitment, I'll do the actual install soon and post on it. First I'll have to check that tach signal wire it sounds like.

Thanks,
Sam

Sorry, been real busy with work and this weekend is probably going to be just as busy if the weather is nice enough to take the boat out. For sure I'll get it done within the week, I have everything I need and first I have to check that tach signal wire that Leonard Shelby said didn't work for him.

I think when I try again, I'm just going to tap the rpm wire from the cluster, I tried both ECU pins / wires and had NO luck.

I'll upload pics, just have to figure out how or where I can host them. Is the tach signal wire in the cluster that leonard_shelby is referring to the same one that turbo timer's use? If so, I know exactly where that is and it'll be easier to tap than off the ECU.
