Yes, it's true. More new today, do a search on cnn.com. They're cutting a whole shift off the production lines and laying the workers off.

No they will not go out of business. Chrysler is just spreading rumours so Mits stock would go down thus allowing them to buy more shares. Mitsubishi Heavy industries just injected more money into MMC and also Mitsubishi Bank is the Largest Bank in the World. Hope that makes sense.

They won't go under. They're such a large/established company, in not only vehicles, but consumer electronics (although I'm pretty sure they are almost entirely separate). They'll be bought out by another company if things get really really really bad and Chrysler drops them.

Their products might become piles of s*it, but I would bet the house they don't stop producing/selling/servicing vehicles.

They won't let MMC go down nor will they sell it to a Foreign company. Like they said Mitsubishi is the Ford of Japan, the company is too big for that and also too much pride in Mits. Even in Japan, no matter how bad the rep of mits is in terms of recalls, people still chose it over Subaru. THus EVO > STi.

They won't sell it to a foreign company?? What are you talking about son?? It's already owned by an American company... that's about as foreign as you can get from Japan.

And if you meant Chrysler, the current owners, won't sell it to a foreign company, what on earth would make you say that? It was originally owned by a foreign company, what would stop them from going back to being a Japanese/asian company? Nothing.

Where do you get your info man??? Chrysler has an alliance with Mitsubishi Motors and has a 20 percent stake in its shares. It does not mean that the company is American.

AS for MMC going down.

Here is an article:

"As anticipated, Mitsubishi Motor Corporation (MMC) announced today its revitalization plan to infuse much needed capital into the company. This is obviously tremendous news for Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA), giving renewed support for rebuilding our sales efforts in the North American market. This capital infusion of $4.29 billion (450 billion yen) also demonstrates the Mitsubishi companies' belief and confidence in the future of the brand."

In his press statement in Tokyo today , Mr. Okazaki once again reiterated MMC's commitment to the North American market and underscored its importance to the company's global strategy. Despite the recent problems we have faced in the U.S. , North America remains a top priority for us, " he said, "We are fully committed to getting our North American operations back on track to pave way for the future growth here.
