If your worried about attention from the police then don't get the red one.

Also top end of a Z06 will be hard to beat if you have your car set up for low end quarter mile.. you planning on dropping another 10 grand under the hood? you seemed a bit more frugle going out of state to get a good deal on a stripped down Evo.. but whatever you decide to do post pics of your dyno slips and track times
Well, I wasn't talking about taking the Z06 from a 60mph roll, nor was I thinking about racing one on top end. The American way is the 1/4 mile and that's what I was referring to when I said 11 seconds. Z06s won't pull 1.6 60fts on the street without slicks. Trust me.

The "straw" exhaust idea won't affect performance in the slightest bit since like I said, I plan on running an electronic cutout up by the downpipe.

I think I can get this sled into the mid 11's while keeping the mods under $5,000 total. We'll see...

I dunno, I still think for some reason the red stands out less than the white. The white is bright and shows off certain Evo-specifics such as the hood and FMIC a lot more because of the color contrast...

If you find a way to get an 11 second Evo with under 5k worth of work.... you should go into business equiping them like that... good luck with that...

you said "As I'm blowing the doors off that C5 Vette piloted by Mr. Mid-Life Crisis, I want to see the look on his face and laugh out loud."

This gives the impression of non-track type race hence the reason I said top end and from a role most midlife crisis guys who don't know much about cars aren't on tracks.

the other thing about going stealth with an Evo is the whole wide body kit and intercooler not much you can do about those and to anyone who has half a clue those features stick out like a soar thumb

To go all sleeper, perhaps you can consider a Lancer ES front-end conversion.

The $5,000 was a very conservative estimate. I think it can be done for a lot less. That's with brand new parts too. If I were to buy the stuff used, it would be even cheaper.

With the stock FMIC powdercoated and a mesh grille in front of it, it should not be anymore noticeable than some cars' radiators. The body kit, aggressive looking front fascia, wide wheels, fat tires, and massive brakes are another story.

I would tend to agree with meanmud

Also an ES conversion would block needed air flow to the intercooler which could cause decrease in power and/or overheating of other parts

What's involved in doing that? I'm assuming the ES front bumper won't just bolt onto the Evo?

I'll probably just wind up doing the simple, inexpensive ****. Like others have noted, it will be difficult, if not impossible, to make it look like an ES completely.

I wanna know how to get an Evo into 11's for under 5 grand... I'm assuming the obvious stuff like turbo back exhaust Utec/xede chip, SRI, new cams, right there your right at 3k assuming you get new good quality parts and get good deal on install work or do it yourself.. If you are an awesome driver this will get you down to mid 12's. So how you ganna shave a full half+ second off with 2 grand?

My friend just ran an 11.9 @ 115 with his Evo and he has basically all the mods you listed with the exception of he also has the upper IC piping as well as the 660cc injectors and upgraded fuel pump (from a 2G DSM). He bought all the stuff from one vendor so he got a discount. Came in at way under $5,000 and he did the work with a friend. He was actually running a base map with his Utec too. I'll be going with the AEM and speed density conversion. Will cost a few hundred bucks more but should be good for some nice gains. You also need to remember that the RS is at least a hundred pounds lighter than the VIII. Car & Driver just tested one (without a/c though) and said it weighed 3026! I plan on getting that number down closer to 2800. With 380-400whp and only 2800lbs, this thing should run closer to low 11's.

Can't wait to have a look.

Get some rest before you pick up your new car.

Congrats!
