Isn't this from the "road ahead" section? Those cars listed on that page are thier "concept cars." The specs are for the EVO VII. The only interesting thing about this is that a few months ago the title of the used to say EVO VII EURO SPEC...Well, now it just says Evo VIII. I doubt that means anything however. But back to the subject...this is no proof that our EVO will have AYC or ACD. All this shows is what the EVO VIIs come with.
They also showed the Evo VII at all the US shows (save for the associates only convention in Las Vegas), and we're not getting that. So far as anyone knows, the whole AYC thing is up in the air.

I was thinking that it might be better that we don't get AYC/ACD anyways. Screw it, it weighs a whole lot more, i'm prolly not gonna use it anyways, and a good mechanical diff would kick its ***. Thats my opinion at least.

If you plugged those 4 into a Lancer Cedia with a turbo motor, and put an Evolution badge on the exterior, is it an Evolution?
Many members of this board have essentially said yes.
Wrong.
It wouldn't really be an Evolution. A Lancer Evolution is a hand-built homologation special that is made by Ralliart. As a matter of fact, the RS variant of the Evolution doesn't even come with the AYC/ACD or Brembos, and the buyers of that model wouldn't have it any other way. What they are buying is the chassis, engine, transmission and the wiring harness. And that chassis, engine, transmission and wiring harness are, essentially, what an Evolution really is. The key words here are Rally and Homologation Special. As in, this is not a Honda Civic with some Type R badges on it, people. It's a vehicle that serious professionals buy and rip the brakes, wheels and suspension out of. Recaro's? Give me a break, a racing bucket is going there. The only reason there is a passenger seat is because you need a navigator.
Cheers,
Paul Hansen

Mr. AWD
Ya know, it's really starting to **** me off that Mitusbishi is waiting till the ABSOLUTE LAST MINUTE to release specs on this car! I've noticed that it's not even showing up in some 2003 auto buyers guides, probably for this reason! We as of right now, we have 61 days till it goes on sale, exactly two months.
I know that Mitsu's holding off so as to not tip their hand to Subaru, who's bringing over the STi, but dammit! I need to know soon what it's going to be like, so I'll know whether or not to put down a deposit!
Rant, rant, rantity rant. Ok, I'm done....

I don't think the Evo7 is a homologation special. The current Evo WRC looks like the 7, but since it's a WRC it doesn't have to follow the homolgation guidelines like Group N does. The Evo 6 was the last Group N Evo to my knowledge.
