Mitsubishi need someting special........
Had a good look about the 350z, and with prices starting at 26 grand for such a sweet car, I'm very impressed.
This will take a lot of sales from the Evo.
My friendly mitsu garage called me telling me that I can pay 2 grand over MRSP if I want an evo, but that I'd better hurry. Thay have no specs, no pictures, no prices
That 350z is looking better by the day............
Mitsu will have to spec the evo pretty dam well to bring me back...

I wouldn't expect the 350Z to take away any sales at first. There's probably only going to be 3-4000 Evos so they'll all most likely sell fast regardless. Also, the track edition 350Z, which includes the Brembos runs for about $35K... I think the performance version is a little over $30K + options.

Friend of mine got a new 350Z for only 200 over msrp
and it comes with Lo-Jack..... (so actually it's under
msrp)
I've heard that Nissan is cracking down dealers that
selling over msrp... Good job.
I hope that other makers would start to do the same.
And by the way, I'm in socal....

Go for the Evo guys....you know you will start seeing the 350z riced out in every mag soon. Since the EVO is a limited qty, you will own something a little different, plus you'll have 4wd!!
AWD. I doubt there will be too many "riced" cars in this price range. I'm not saying there won't be any obviously, but this is well out of the price range of your average econobox tuner. I'd expect both cars to be embraced far more by tuners interested in performance rather than looks.
As for overpricing, it's really not any manufacturer's place to step in. Remember the "S" in MSRP stands for "Suggested". It's a free market as far as pricing goes. If dealerships want to eat a loss they can go ahead, if they want to charge an arm and a leg, so be it. I haven't heard anything about Nissan stepping in, but I'd be really suprised if that is true. They get paid the same money either way.

I read somewhere that nissan is taking feedback from customers on their 350 buying experiences, such as price boosting, empty promises for timelines and car quantities. these will then turn into some kind of rating that will factor into how many more z's or other good models that dealer gets in the future. from what i read, it seesm to be working pretty well in the pricing department, but dealers are still doing things like promising a z to 50+ people when they know they are only getting 10 for the year or so. thats a good start on limiting the dealer markups.
