Whoosh sound at high rpm's?

Wondering what you all think. I have a 2005 evo 8 with a TBE only. At full throttle when I get to 5k rpm I hear a "whoosh" sound from the engine compartment and also notice that the boost gage indicates that the boost level is backing off to about 16psi. Am I hearing the stock BOV bleed off boost? I never heard this before and the only difference is that I took off the Excede unit to go back to the stock ECM settings but I did not replace the restrictor pill. Is this somehow related? Anybody have the same experience?

Boost leak. Check pipes.

you should get a manual boost controller cuz with a TBE your boost will spike pretty high and it might be causing a boost leak...

my 05 had a boost leak on the throttle body shaft seals...

so if it's boost leak, how bad can it get... I'm also loosing about 4 to 5 psi..
can i get into another problem with this... I'm going on vacation tomorrow and I will be driving the car, so I just need to make sure if it's safe to drive it for about hour and half on highway..

It'll be safe to drive. It's just air escaping and in turn causing you to lose power.

if after the "whoosh sound you hear flutter, thats turbo surge.... but i recommend checking all I/C couplers for tightness
