6,518 mile '03 VIII at local dealer

I don't work for the dealer, I just figured you guys would want to see this.

I'll admit, I've known of this car for a while, since before the sole owner sold it to the dealer, and it's completely immaculate. I met him by chance through his daughter who lives in my neighborhood. It was driven a couple times per month over the summer months in MN, on about a 20 mile loop, after which it would be washed and put back under the cover. The owner has a number of toys and just decided it was time to let go of this one, and when he had issues with private buyers unable to get financing (turns out most people interested in Evos aren't walking into deals with $10k cash in pocket) he sold it to the dealer.

I had a shot at it myself, and the money was there to boot, but I couldn't bare the thought of flogging this thing on the track; it's practically a museum piece. Since I've already added some usage scars to the IX I picked up instead, I'm pretty confident I made the right choice. But I'm sure you guys just want to see pics:

This is a car that will make the right person very, very happy.

Did you get to test drive it by chance? Very, nice{thumbup}.

Price is decent too, about what I expected.

Wow, great find indeed, that thing is MINT. Price is about right, I wonder how much the dealer gave him for it.

looks like the suspension is modified, and those rain guards aren't Mitsubishi, they are some cheap brand. But looks pretty clean I guess. I'd want to still check out the car thoroughly if I was buying it.

I get to come to work every day and drool all over this thing. It sits right in front of my desk (I kind of demanded that they let me park it there, lol)

Yes, the car has been lowered on tien springs, and those window shades are Weather Techs (not some cheap knock-off brand).

I won't say what we actually bought it for, but we paid damn near double NADA, and more or less what the buyer was asking minus the price of new tires. If this were my car and all I were going to do is drive it to and from car shows, I wouldn't even put new tires on it. But due to liability issues, it's a safety concern.

I too have seen the car in person… It's truly stunning. "Museum piece" is a great name for it. It's truly just that! It's an amazing piece of history, and it's great to be able to see exactly what a car like this looks like… I'm all for a clean, stock appearing, low mileage car.

As Bobby knows, I have a clean, low mileage IX with 33k miles and this car blew me away with it's look and condition. Granted, for a lot of people, because it's Apex silver and an '03 VIII, it's not as desired, but how many people are going to find an Evo in this kind of condition. It's truly remarkable.

I also own a low mileage '00 Civic Si in EBP with 8k miles… again, another true time piece. It's completely stock (only eibach lowering springs, i have the original springs) and a joy to drive and experience. It's currently for sale… and like this Evo, for those that don't like the price of the car… try and find another car in it's condition with under 10k miles… !!!

Unfortunately, no. The owner brought it by when I was still on crutches and not driving under doctor's orders after I wrecked my VIII at the track. He definitely had the passion though, we stood at the end of my driveway chatting for an hour or so.

Honestly, driving this car isn't the cool part. It drives just like any other more or less stock 03 Evo. The thing that's so astonishing about it is how pristine it is.

Not a fan of Apex Silver?!

TrogdorWBL Jun 9, 2014 03:58 PM

Apex Silver is to VIII and IX as white is to the X. Everyone and their brother freak'n has one.

I think of like 34 Evos in our new inventory 13 of them are white, and two used white X's lol.

jrainwater Jun 9, 2014 04:44 PM

I think the price is to high for a molested Evo even given the mileage on it. And Tein? Not even a good suspension mod either. A "museum piece" would be totally bone stock imho.

Xene Jun 9, 2014 05:21 PM

That price is crazy lol. I bought my white 2004 Evo with 7k miles for 20k. The Evo 8's aren't worth that much in my opinion. Only the 2006 Evo 9 is worth the high price since very limited production and best of all Evo models. Also the color of this car is silver which in my opinion is the ugliest and there are a lot of them.
