just checked my 03 and it does say MFD. By Mitsubishi Motors Corporation. Japan

That's pretty cool biggie. Thanks for checking. So basically all the '03s were shipped over from Japan preassembled and the '05 & '06 were definitely assembled here in IL. I wonder about the '04s now lol.

Thing is very sexy, dont see many with low miles like that.

Copy/paste from a 20 sec. Search. This was written in 2012, and I haven't paid much attention to the X but to my albeit questionable knowledge, no Evo has been made in the US. Mitsubishi Motors North America's current product line consists of six cars and SUV models. Manufacturing of these product lines is handled by three manufacturing facilities in Japan, and one facility located in Normal, Illinois. Japanese Plants Japanese manufacturing facilities tend to handle the more technologically advanced models, such as the Lancer and Lancer Evolution. Production of these models takes place at the Mizushima Plant in Kurashiki, Okayama, Japan. Some of the more specialized production is handled at the Car Research and Development center in Okazaki, Aichi, Japan. In addition to the Lancer, production of the Mitsubishi Outlander is also handled by both of these manufacturing plants. All power train production, including that of the Mitsubishi 4B1, or "World engine," featured in the Lancer models, and the Sirius 4G69 engine is handled solely by the Mitsubishi power train plant in Shiga, Japan. U.S. Production Product lines built on the American developed Mitsubishi PS platform are produced at the Mitsubishi Motors North America production facility in Normal, Illinois. These lines include the Mitsubishi Eclipse, Endeavor SUV, and the Galant Sedan. This facility was formerly known as Diamond Star Motors, and was founded as a 50/50 co-op between Mitsubishi and Chrysler. In 1995 it was renamed the Mitsubishi Motors Manufacturing America after equity stake was purchased by Mitsubishi in 1993. Finding out where your Mitsubishi was manufactured is quite easy if you own a car based on the American developed PS platform, such as the Eclipse, Galant or Endeavor. If you own any other Mitsubishi product, production was handled by one of their Japanese manufacturing facilities either in Aichi or Okayama Japan. |
That's good info you found there, props on that but the little sticker says normal IL on my IX so idk what to say to that. Maybe the X is made in Japan and the 8 and 9 was in normal???

All EVO VIII/IX Final Assembly was done in Japan.
Just google image any window sticker from an VIII/IX and they'll all say Final Assembly Japan 100% Japan parts as well There are old threads on here of someone that toured the "EVO" factory in Japan Never cared to look into the X's so not a clue there |
Im not questioning you at all gsr but why does my ix have a sticker on the inside door saying assembled in normal IL then?
|
If I could figure out how to post pics from the phone app I could show you.....
|
No clue. Incorrect sticker maybe? I can assure you they were all manufactured in Japan.
There are images of door stickers on google/yahoo that show manufactured in Japan as well |
nice find, not so with the price imo. theres a local guy here thats selling his 10k mile GG IX SE bone stock for 26k.
so rather pay for the 9 SE than the 8. |
|
