I compleated this mod today. I am pretty good with tools and work installing custon electronica on very high end yachts. My jod requires me to perform quire a bit of cutting and fabrication to be sure that what I install on a 2 Million dollar boat looks like it belongs there. I have also modded my head lights and it was rather simple and came out perfect.

With all this said I would not recommend anyone doing this mod. I cut the tails open with a dremel, even prepped the surface on the light and the lens. Removed all of the black from the lens. I paiinted the inside, so far so good. The problem comes when you put them back together. The finnish around the edges is not as good. it has an uneven look to it. I sealed them with black 4200 marine grade silicone too.

All in all I show my car and this was a mod I took on with out thinking twice about my ability to compleat it. Now I have a part on my car that looks like crap and a show comming up next weekend. Not happy.

Here are some pictures of the completed lights. Don't wast your time doing this Mod. Just go buy the lights, you will end up having to any way.

The video is great by the way, I just didnt like the compleated look.

^^^ I've done 6 or 7 sets and they all look great, doesnt look like you took the time to finish up the edges right.

What did you do to the edges? It looks like you painted the outside of the lens?

OK, so I masked and painted the outer edge of the lens. That is definetly the key step. It makes all of the difference in the world. Now it looks much better. I gues I missed that part.

BADEVO,

do you mind snapping some pics of the sides of the tail lights? I somehow cant get the dremel in it... sigh... and the gap i cut opened both the clear lense and black cover is horrible. Should i sandpaper it or?

I still dont know how to close it... sigh...

thats beautiful.. i have a quick question though.

Would it be possible to have a "smoked chrome" or "black chrome" finish on the taillights so that they retain the chrome-like reflection?

The flat black is very nice, but not exactly what I am looking for.

Thanks.

It was terrifying opening the very first one, but after opening it, it gave me more confidence in opening the other side....
