just take out the two screws (after you remove the climate control knobs) and take a small flat head and go all the way around prying up a little at a time and it will pop right out. (pull towards the back of the car, straight out)

Great write-up, but it took me awhile to figure out how to remove the guages, I guess I didn't understand what was going on. Anyway, for those that can't figure out how to remove the guages (like me) and are having a hard time, here are some pics. You have to remove the plastic cover that goes around the guages.

Remove plastic cover to gain access to the 4 screws to get the guages out:

Thanks for the pictures man they were good. I am going to do this soon. I can't see the fing gaguges where they are plus I am happy with putting my navi unit down low. I hope with the extension unit I can fit the screen past the overhang.

do you need a ziptie for this? Or can you usually do it without one?

dude this was top notch, instruction were to the T, you forgot the Ground wire tho for the gauges (not a big deal) Dash looks so much better! can't believe the car doesn't from the Factory this way.

Oh tip that might be helpful as far as aligning the face plate with the gauges. I used only two screws, one on each side and staggered them one side upper and the other side the lower and it lined up perfect! Again great Mod and so practical.
