Black Out Headlight Materials

I plan blacking my headlights tomorrow, I picked up these cans today Just wanted to make sure it was ok to Use?

Also, the guy at the store told me to sand the chrome and forget the primer just paint after sand

but on this forum, I know some of you sanded, primed, paint, some of you primed and painted,

DO I really have to sand the chrome or just prime and paint?

Don't sand it, you don't even have to prime it, if you use Kryola plastic paint. It'll just stick to the paint.

But just to make sure, i'll prime it, but wont sand it, since if you don't do that right, it's a lot more work.

I've never had any primer not compatible with the paint.

SAND IT! TRUST ME. I've done 10 or 12 sets of head lights and tail lights sand off the chrome. Get some wet sanding going, it'll only take you an extra 5 minutes. If you get a housing that has bad chroming ( plastic chrome ) the paint will bubble. Ask me how I know.

you sand it so the surface is pourous and have enough grip for the paint. But if you get the infusion by kryola, i think it'll just go over better, considering if you do sand it with 400, which I wouldn't recommend, (I would recommend 800 or higher wetsand), you would have to go back and wet sand the primer after you prime it after the sanding.

I've made prototypes out of all sort of materials in school (industrial design) and if you want to do it right, its a long process with sanding.

I would sand, prime, wet clean, wet sand, prime and reapeat until the surface is smooth. Then you put the primary paint on, wetsand to get rid of the orange peel, primary second paint, wet sand, do it again, then clearcoat x 3.

But you could skip few steps if you want. Or do it some other peoples way. i think long as it looks good, it really doesn't matter because it's in the enclosed space.

It is not necessary to sand the chrome. You can just get a black primer with no sanding needed and youre good to spray it over the chrome. Heres all the tools I used.
