140, 130, 130 and 135. It's ok cause I'm planning on building the motor. I just needed to know why I couldn't push more than 26psi on a aka green. No boost leaks as well for max psi.

Great thread.. how much lower would you expect if you did't have the throttle @ wot during the test? Forgot to do that and got 150-155 psi across the board.

Great write up. I havent had a chance to do mines but what is the compression number that they should be to have a healthy motor.

Just did my test and the results are:

136, 137, 134, 140

Knowing that I have 272 cams would you say these numbers are ok?

another bump from the dead. Can this be done with the engine fully cooled down. I'm in the process of removing the radiator but I want to do a compression test to make sure the headgasket isn't dead. Any help appreciated.I tried it without the radiator hooked up and the first two cylinders read 0..I haven't tested the others yet. Hopefully I'm doing something wrong.

Just want to add this for people who have IXs, the above values are for VIIIs ONLY!

I did a compression test today on my IX and my heart sank because I got 140-150-150-140...until I did some searching. Apparently on the IXs the compression thresholds are waaaaay different.

The standard is 145

The minimum is 92 (you read that right, 92!)

Please add this to the OP if possible, it'll probably save a lot of IX guys a heart attack.

I'm pretty sure alot of times that as long as the readings are within 10% of each other , then you should be good

I recently go my shortblock rebuilt., pretty much the works, but we decided to go with Wiesco forged coated piston with .020 over. and 9:0:1 compression. Is this in theory supposed to UP compression let say Evo 9 stock from a 135 to 160?

Stock 2005 Evo VIII, 67000 miles, while idling, the cylinder pressure is 110 psi in two cylinders, 108 in the other two. Runs fine, doesn't smoke, doesn't use oil. Is this normal for an idling motor? I don't have the opportunity to go back and do it the suggested way.
