Removing factory Infinity System
Removing factory Infinity System
MODS: There is more to add to this. I will not be able to finish it through Sunday 9/25. Please do not move or close it until then.
These pictures will describe in the best of my ability in how to remove the factory Infinity sound package from an EVO/Ralliart. I have more pictures to add and the descriptions could be a bit more detailerd but this should show you 90% of the process.

More information will be coming soon. I will be sure to get working on the rest that is involved. Most important part will be WIRING SCHEMATICS for the harness under the driver seat so you can wire in your own aftermarket headunit or amp to power you highs.

I am ripping mine out and its a painful process. The tweeter mounts just will not come off and trying to pull the amp DIN connector sucked.
I really hate these screws that are torqued to 100lbs. How the hell do you get screws off like this???
Your better off going aftermarket...

The stock SSL Infinity systems sounds good, however I'm about to replace it with the system I had on my previous car. Before doing it I have a question for you guys with the SSL option: the SSL subwoofer is 10", do you guys think it's possible to remove the sub driver from the enclosure and replace it with an aftermarket sub? I have this sub (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-MKFSaRt...0&I=500SWX1042) already installed in a box, but the stock SSL sub enclosure fits so well into the trunk that I'd rather use it. Is that possible?
Thanks.
Thanks.
I want to upgrade the factory HU of the Infinity Premium Stereo System. Every deck I look at says it will not work with the factory sub. Is there a way to wire around this to maintain use of the factory subwoofer? I did use the search feature before posting this and was unable to locate any material on the matter. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Justin

you can use the factory Infinity system with an aftermarket HU. you need to have a HU with a front and rear set of RCA and go to www.soundgate.com and select "factory radio replacement," then click on "mitsubishi." there you will find the part MITSRCVR. this will connect you RCAs to the infinity DIN connector. the whole system will work! the part is $26.
I wouldn't recommend putting a sub in the factory infinity box. its real small and if you have a decent sub with a good size magnet, you won't get much out of it. I replaced the sub with a JL 10w3v2 w/ JL box and ran a JL amp for the sub but am using the factory infinity amp to push the infinity internals. it sounds real good but will eventually replace the internals. just wanted more bass for now!!!
