the k & n fit for the 03 to 06... and the fram filter fits for sure... just by that alone, i would assume that the oil filters are the exact same. the 9 is not that much different from the 8...if the complete exhaust system setup is the same even though a few things have changed, the bolt up is still the exact same. there isnt many differences between the 2 cars

I just changed the oil on my IX MR two weeks ago at 1500 miles. Used Rhino ramps so no problem but you could just as easily jacked up under the frame rails. The oil filter is the same as on my 04 so that part number has not changed, at least not here in Texas.

Same crush washer also. Took approx. 4.75 quarts and the whole process took about 30 minutes.

Why the heck did you change the oil after 493 miles? You are throwing money out of the window

The engine should be already broken in with regular oil from Mitsubishi. They then fill it with syntetic oil. You have to worry about breaking in the clutch right.

that's exactly right. I talked to MAX at carlsbad mitsubishi about this and the engine should be broken in exactly when you get your first oil change at around 3000 or 5000 miles with the original oil that mitsu put in. So yes in a way he did throw away some money IMO.

So if you have an MR with the Zero Lift Kit, the Rhino Ramps won't work.

I bought the low profile ramps from Griots Garage and they worked great.

Total time ~ 30 minutes for the oil & filter change. Much better approach.

I just changed the oil on my IX for the first time and I didn't even have to jack up the car or use ramps. The drain plug and filter is arm's reach. At stock height there is plenty of room to see what you are doing. If your car is lowered, it may be a different story. I'm happy that it's so easy to change the oil on this car. On my last car, I had to remove the under panel in order to get to the drain plug and filter. What a PITA!

you,ve gotta be kidding me, you went thru all that to do an oil change. it takes me 15minutes taking my time to change the oil on my IX. jack the car up on the pass. side, take the oil filler cap off from under the hood, take the filter off, put the new one on, remove the oil pan bolt, drain, put the bolt back in, replace oil and done. P.S. why would you take the under tray off its not in the way at all.

The splash guard underneath does not have to be removed to change oil. Go to autozone and get a 3 claw oil filter removal tool. It attaches to a 3/8" rachet. It makes removing the oil filter very easy. I usually screw the filter on till its just catches the oil filter housing base and then give it 3/4 to 1 turn by hand using a clean rag. I have done this method on many cars and have yet to ever get a leak.

By the way a good set of rhino ramps should do the job of getting the high enough off the ground to get underneath.
