problem installing a 10.5 hotside

A freind and I were trying to do the install last night of the 10.5 hotside and o2 housing. We followed this thread to a tee https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=132695

Everything did come out with a little covincing but We couldn't not get the hotside off the turbo. We tried for a good amount of time and still no luck. Please anyone that has done this install the same way as the link posted above can you tell me a trick or proccess to get the hotside of the turbo?

spray some PB blaster in the seem. then after it soaks for a lil bit take a rubber mallet and tap it should fall right off. Just make sure u dont hit the turbine wheel. Also when u go to put the new housing back on make u line up the "tit" before putting the band clamp back on.

This may seem obvious, but did you remove the cotter pin on the WGA and pry the arm off the o2 housing?

We could not remove the cotter pin because one of the bolts holding the o2 housing heat shield had rust welded itself to the o2 sensor housing. We instead unbolted the wastegate actuator (two bolts) from the intake side of the turbo. I have actually rebuilt several mitsubishi turbo's before and I can tell you for sure that the hotside was "stuck" onto the center section of the turbo. I am not sure why, they usually come off with ease. We tried prying it apart, and using a rubber mallet. Perhaps it has corroded itself together?

We are going to try again in about a week and a half and this time we are just going to take out the whole turbo. Anybody who has done this and can give me any kind of input would be greatly appreciate

I took the turbo completely out and had to beat on the hotside pretty hard to separate it from the center section you will be able to tell once it starts separating. After that start taking it easy and make sure you don't remove the hotside sideways and damage the turbine...
