Removing side marker lens?

Removing side marker lens?
I'm trying to paint my side markers orange, and I was able to get the markers off of the car, but now I can't get the clear lens off of the rest of the housing to paint it. I tried baking them in the oven for 15 minutes at 225 degrees but that didn't do the trick. Anybody know how to do this without destroying the markers?

Just paint them, it doesn't matter if you get a little paint on the back side.

so you guys painted the outside of the lens? How is it holding up to the weather? did you clearcoat over the paint?
