stripped a brake line installing stainless lines, HELP!
I can't believe this bad luck... I'm in the middle of installing stainless lines and managed to strip the drivers side rear line while trying to take the old one off. I was even using a flare nut wrench (not a good enough one I guess) and this still happened.
so how do I get myself out of this mess? any advise from the more seasoned mechanics?
the only good thing is that this is not my only car and it's in my garage.
HELP.

Bringing this thread back to life. I tried using a regular wrench rather than a flare nut wrench and stripped the head of the fitting.
I don't have a leak, but can this hard line be easily replaced so that I can install a stainless steel line on this corner?
Thanks.

you'll want to take the car to a good shop that will be able to cut the line and put a new nut on and re-flare the end. that's what I had to do in the end...
it's not that bad, maybe an hour labor

Just get some locking pliers with teeth that fit over the stripped nut and squeeze them as hard as you can and it always works. If you dont have locking pliers just use channel locks and squeeze super hard and turn. I have this problem all the time with customer cars.
