I'm installing an engine block heater, and I have to put it in place of the coolant drain plug, but I have no idea where it is. I searched forums and everything, and I can't figure it out. Pics anyone? Detailed info? ANYTHING!

 

From the front of the car, bottom left corner of the radiator. It's a wing nut looking drain ****. (Apparently drain **** is a bad word)

 

Do I have to remove the plastic shroud to get to it?

 

Well I took all the shrouds off and I still dont see it. I think im an idiot.

 

If you are under the car looking upwards, with the timing belt on your right...find the radiator's lower right corner. The drain plug is pointing directly aft in the lower right corner. It is black and resembles a flat head screw driver blade for turning. I'm guessing it is about 3/8" wide. Oh, and it is plastic or nylon.

I was looking all over for some huge brass plug, and there was the little plastic black thing. Thanks guys.

 

So all you have to do is let the old coolant drain out from that hole and then put the new coolant in?

 

Thats it. Be careful that you dont completely butcher your drain plug like i did. Its easily done as it is cheap plastic!

 

ahhh but wait there is another plug on the engine block which is twice as difficult to get to. That one is a brass plug that drains the water jacket in the block. If you absolutely need to which you probably do you should take this off and its located below the intake manifold near the aluminum water hose that goes to the water pump.

 

ooops ... my bad don'd worry! no need to take that one off. hehe.

 

Doesn't the engine block heater go there.. not in the radiator?

what kind of coolant does our car come with OEM, or what do you guys normally replace it with once drained?

 

The car comes from mitusubishi filled with cool aid, just refill your radiator with either fruit punch or the blue stuff and you car will run sweet.
