removing of radio

removing of radio

I just got my evo 2 days ago and it came with a ****ty head unit so i wanted to put a diff one that i have in it.. i didnt wanna go pulling on trim parts and making a mistake which ends up braking something.. how do i get the face plate and everything off saftley? thanks

The only way you can remove the stereo is remove the trim piece. It has clips, so be careful and pull each side out evenly. After that you'll see screws on the corners of the HU. All this is under the trim piece.

its really easy, remove the HVAC knobs off of the unit. there are 2 phillips screws one on the left and one on the right.

lightly pull on the trim around the radio (i normally start on the top left side and work clockwise thats just my preference)

then there are either 2 or 4 more screws holding the radio mount into the dash... remove them phillips screws and you just gently pull the radio out...

unplug the harness and voila! youre finished...

lmao stop following me.. thailand is cake now... it was that one week of hell that sucked... redeployment time... just loaded up the strykers... little bit more equipment and im done

lol thanks.. but whats the safest way of getting the trim off is what i was trying to say.. like what should i use to pry it off.. if i use a flat head or something it will bend the trim up a lil wont it?

you shouldn't need to pry it off. like constant_boost said, just remove the hvac knobs, and unscrew the screws behind them. you should be able to grip the piece just buy the wholes where the knobs were and pull it out. it wont come out in one shot, but corners of it will start to pop out, go one by one pulling evenly and you should have no problem
