Boost Guage Install

Hey guys have been doing some research on installing a boost guage and I havent really found a diagramed how to. I was wondering if someone has a couple of pictures and some steps they could post to give a quick run down on how to install the guage. Also if there was a detailed post about this I apologize.

Thanks,
Chris

What brand is your boost gauge? Is the boost gauge electronic or mechanical?

There is many boost gauge installation details on the Forum. Search it by brand.

Guage is an autometer guage that is mechanical. I know you said search by make but there arent really any fully documented write ups of this install.

damn near every mech. boost gauge works the same and installs the same.
u just have to tap into your vacume line between the bov and the intake manifold. then run its power and ground and ur good to go..

Yep that will work. That is the exact diagram I used to install my gauge. The next tricky part will be running the vacuum line through the fire wall. Look for a rubber grommet to the far left (passenger) side of the firewall. It will pop right out and it should give you more than enough space to run the line.

Good luck!

i have a mechanical autometer gauge, and i am still in need of some help. The pictures in the linked thread show a hose that my gauge did not come with.

Mine comes with a thin clear tubing, not a black rubber hose.
any suggestions?

I have the Autometer Phantom boost gauge and the pictures you showed is NOT where I tapped mine......I dont think it works accurately or at all from the pictures you showed.....I saw many issues about tapping it there......I tapped it where the fpr line goes......

Tapping that line works really well for me. It reads the vacuum well and it reads the boost fine. When I run the car shut it off and turn it back on the guage still reads fine. No problem at all. If I see there are any problems later on I will change it to the other location but it is working 100% right now.

MANGOOK I saw your pics in the other thread looks cool man.

I have a question on the boost gauge install. Where did you tap into for power and lighting? Also did you splice into the wires or did you tap into the fuse box?

I plan on installing my gauges this weekend and would appreciate any info thanks. Eric

I actually pulled power from the internal fuse panel. If you look next to your hood release inside your car there is a little flip down coin tray. Remove the coin tray and look behind the tray you will see a little fuse panel. There is an empty fuse holder inside the little fuse panel. You can tap the empty fuse panel and that will supply your power, then you can ground using the clutch as I did. Hope this works for you and good luck installing your guage and wiring.
