Greddy harness for Turbo Timer install
First, a big thanks to this board and its members. I've had my Evo for about a month and I've learned a lot here.
I just purchased a Greddy Turbo Timer and Greddy wiring harness. After reading everything I could find, it appeared as if the consensus was that the Greddy harness would not be a true plug-and-play. I'm no expert, but I installed mine yesterday and it was in fact just a matter of plugging the harness into the car and plugging the TT into the harness. I did not need to cut any wires. I did use 2 vampire clamps to attach the parking brake wire and the ECU speed sensor wire, but that is very easy and can be undone without effecting the original wires.
Everything seems to work just fine, so I'm not sure how this started, but just some reassurance for anyone who already purchased the Greddy harness - it works and is relatively easy to install.

Right
...so the Greddy harness will not be compatible w/ all turbo timers on the market, but for those TT's that it works with, it IS plug-and-play. And that is the 'myth' I wanted to clear up.
Thanks

I purchased a Greddy TT and installed it using the Greddy harness, but am still having trouble. All of the functions of the timer work correctly, including the speedometer, voltmeter, rpm and countdown functions. The auto timer (A-L, A-H) functions work and countdown the engine turn-off as long as I leave the key in the ACC position. However, it will not keep the car on if I turn the key to the off position. It does this same thing with the P-1 and P-2 countdown functions too...as soon as I turn the key to the 'off' position, the timer turns off. Is my harness not correctly wired, or is it some setting on the timer itself that I need to change to be able to take out my key and have the timer work properly?

I'm no expert, but let's try and walk through this together. First, it sounds like your TT doesn't have power from an unswitched source. In other words, the power supply is not always on, but only when the key is switched on. I would go back and double check all your connections. Are they all completely tight? Are they chafing anything that might have cut through and grounded one of the wires? I'm guessing, but it is always a good idea to start with the basics. Start with that and let me know what you find. Just go slow and don't assume anything. If you made a mistake during the install and it looked fine then, it is still going to look just as good now, i.e. you are going to skip right over the problem, so again, examine everything until you are really sure it is setup properly. Lastly, do you have a multimeter?

Finally got the time to take a closer look at the Greddy harness that I got from Lancershop.com and it was completely wrong. The 12V constant was wired to IG2, the IG1 wire was on ACC and the IG2 wire was on the starter wire. I don't know where they got the harness that they sent to me, but it was a complete waste of money. I went ahead and hardwired everything now and the TT is working perfectly.

Evosound,
Sorry to hear you got sent the wrong part. That sucks but glad to hear you got it figured out.

I picked up the Blitz DCIII yesterday, and they also sold me the Greddy harness Type: TT-14-42. Greddy lists that harness as the correct one for an '89-'94 Eclipse with factory alarm.
After installing the TT using this harness, everything seems to work properly when I switch from the "ON" position to the "ACC" position on the switch. However, if I turn the ignition switch to the "OFF" position, the car stops running immediatly.
Any troubleshooting help would be greatly appreciated.

Props to the guys at Twincam Motorsports in Concord, CA!!
After doing some more research, I found that the Greddy TT-14-43M would work with my EVO. I returned to the store, and they gave me absolutely no hassle about the fact that I had already opened the package, (usually get ALOT of hassle when dealing with other vendors), and exchanged the 14-42 for the 14-43M - no questions asked.
Thanks Again Twincam!
