Lightbulb Amber HVAC bulbs

Hello, tried searching for this thread but non to avail.

I was wonder if the HVAC bulbs are removable, soldered or have have colored rubber jackets/condoms on the bulbs? Since the Head Unit I am installing is amber and has amber illumination. I was able to find orange jackets from a Galant VR4
instrument cluster. Thanks alot.......

HVAC bulbs are removable. There are a ton of writeups on this, just check the how-to section for a thread on how to change the climate control lights...

They have blue condoms on them. I've found something that'll change it to red/amberish, but one of them continues to blackend due to the heat. The right side is fine, but the left bulb does this to the jacket.

I haven't found any other "condom" things.

Per someone's suggestion on this board I painted mine with some Testors modeling paint. I used red but if I were to do it again I'd mix some red and orange to get a better match with the instrument cluster. Even with a red/orange mismatch it looks better than the original color.
