Greddy Profec-B Spec Stage 2

Guys,

I plan to put my new profec B stage 2 on next week, does anyone have any negatives towards their purchase. I had a hard decision between a 2 stage manual boost contoller and what most of my friends that say to go with the profec B. Any feedback is appreciated. Also the forum rocks its nice to see all the positive feedback and the help you get from all. It would be nice to have a national Evo event where you could meet all and compare notes. Who knows.

I love my spec-b , no problems here and it holds boost very well. One of the cheaper EBC's out there but is precise as them all. Couldnt go wrong with it. Takes a little adjusting to get it setup correctly but after that she will stay on key everytime.

A question for you guys with the Profec B. Can the unit display boost pressure or do I still need a different boost gauge?

Can the unit display boost pressure?

Yes it can and in PSI also. Nice feature and is one of the reasons I bought it. Until I can get the pillar with Defi gauges I want. This one will work for now. See link below, nice setup.

Does anyone have any install pics? I'd like to see some. Also if someone had a good picture of the vaccume routing would be helpful. Thanks..

Does anyone know if we are supposed to uncap the NC port on the greddy solenoid or just leave it capped? Also i experience some rather inconsistent numbers when trying to tune it in psi mode. I looked around a bit and noticed other cases from different cars with the same problem. All i had to do though was switch it to kpa/bar. Besides waisting alot of time trying to tune it in psi mode no harm done. Just a heads up to people if they are having trouble getting what they want.

Hey Quickshift, according to you, you said there is a tee that goes from the wastegate actuator to the turbo compressor. So if I install the greddy, I would remove this tee and just put the COM to the wastegate actuator and the NO to the bottom of the turbo? So after the install, there should be no tee correct?

I would remove this tee

NRG,

That's is correct. I did away with the factory vaccume lines and ran new ones. Com to wastegate and NO to the turbo nipple. I left the NC capped. My question is where did everyone run the vaccume line from the cockpit or back of the module. I ran it to a tee between the fuel regulator and fuel rail like the book said to do. I'm not getting an acurate reading. A point for the first timers like myself. It does take some time it setting this unit up. I'm still trying to tune mine in. Give yourself some extra free time when doing the install.

If its the boost guage line you are talking about, you just need to tap it from the fuel pressure regulator.....It works wonders there....

need to tap it from the fuel pressure regulator

NRG,

I did tap into the fuel reulator line in between the fuel regulator valve and fuel rail, but I git inconsistent reading on the digital gauge. I read over the profec manual again and found a special note about the Toyota and Mitsu stating to not tap into the line there, but to tap into the line from the intake to the fuel regualtor. Everything is working fine there. You might try it if you don't have it there. I tuned my Profec on a business trip yesterday and it working awesome. Takes some tweaking to get it right, but its worth it.

I didn't tap it with my Profec, I did it with my analog gauge. The Profec is only use to dial in the boost.....

Okay I realize this is an old thread but Im recycling for the good of the community!

Anyway, I just got a Greddy Profect Spec II controller and wondered what is involved in setting/ calibrating it. I am currently tuned with an MBC to 24.5psi and do not want a retune. Can I install the Greddy without a tune? Seems like there is a lot of setting to it...
