How to install Greddy Profec-B spec???

Need help with installing a Greddy Profec-B I bought from a friend. I got the manuel off Greddy's web site but its not all clear. Does the Evo have a boost regulating solenoid and does it have to be disconnected and where is it located? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm trying to do it myself so I can learn more about the car.

Yes the evo has a boost control solenoid, its under the factory Air box, you should be able to connect the aftermarket to where the factory one curretly is, because you have to disconnect the factory one.

you see it once you remove the factory airbox, its "goldish" in color and has 2 black vacuum lines attached to it, it unbolts good luck! hope this helps

Connet the COM line from the solinoid to the actuator of the wastegate and the NO line to the bottom of the turbo compressor unit. Must remove air box or airfilter unit for easier access. Leave the old stock boost solinoid connect to the harness and just set it aside, cause removing it will cause a CEL or SES to come on.

Definitely do not connect the new solenoid to the stock lines, the stock setup is very weirdly connected and your EBC will not work properly. Do a search for MBC install and you'll get an idea of where the lines are (even though you don't have an MBC, the lines are the same).

Still confused

The stock boost controller has a large hose connected to it from the wastegate (I think). Can I use this hose to connect to the COM input of the Greddy Valve Unit? The stock controller has a small hose connected to the induction pipe this one gets capped right? The NO connection on the Greddy Valve Unit connect to the turbo pipe nipple which you get to from under the car (yes or no)?

The line has a tee in it. What I did was I cut the line suplied with the unit in half and ran new lines. You will need some small hose clamps to hold it on tight. But you have the correct connections. COM = Wastegate Actuator / NO = Turbine Nipple

Unhappy

The line from the wastegate still has a tee in it after the install right? The only difference is that the tube that went to the old boost control is replaced with a new one that goes to the new valve unit.

How do you set it? I have a Profec B-spec2 boost controller and don't know what % to set the boost to. It was installed a few days ago and I really want to get this thing up and running. I would like to run about 20psi.

My mods are intake and a turbo timer.

Thanks!

I know with DSM's you need to be careful upping the boost without some kind of fuel management. Get an AFC if you want 20 all the time. Factory is 16.5 in the upper rpm. rasing the boost to 20 will probally cause a lean condition. Just my 2 Cents.

Yes with DSM you need to just get a upgrades pump not a whole fuel managment type controler. The factory ECU will deal with the extra boost levels.
I have a B spec II also in my GSX. The duty cycles are very low like 16% and the start boost is like 12% and Gain is about 8 or 9%. I am running it on a Tial 38 mm external wastegate and a GT 35R turbo. (65lbs pre min compresser wheel) With that setup it is a rock solid 20 psi. ( THIS IS ON MY GSX NOT MY EVO) so just use the setting for a starting point or food for thought.

Oh yeah I just bought a EVO two days ago. Whoo Hooo

Thanks. I'll see what I can do to increase fuel flow.

Actually with the EVO's they run so pig rich stock that running 20 psi all the way to redline with no aftermarket fuel control should be just fine. With mine running 21 psi (gota love 94 octane) we still have to lean it out using the AFC to get to a nice 11.5:1 A/F ratio on pump gas.
