Question How to upgrade my HID to 8600k?

Im looking for the more purple color on the HID. Our Evo's come with 6000k. I want to install the brightest, found on BMW's and benz. Is it easy to do or should I have a performance shop install them?

Have to remove the bumper and headlights to replace them.

Are you sure about that ??

I just replace my stock HID bulb with Philips 6000K bulb and it looks brighter and more purple ! You need to take off the bumper first (about 15 min, a lot of clips, but all you need is a screw driver). then take off the head lights (I did not disconnect all the wires, just take off the bolts and replace the bulb). The whole thing took me about one hour, next time will be half time ! because I know exactly where are those bolts located now ! Next will be the hight beam HID kit upgrade(9005) !

Stock HID are 4100K. Anything rated higher than 6000K will produce less light brightness. Unless it's a Philips bulb, most 6K or greater bulbs are junk and do not last long. If you want purple go for 5800K or Philips Ultinon bulbs.

yes, I just replace the HID bulb only, direct bolt on,no mod need ! I believe the ballast should be fine if you have different color temp bulb.

PIAA or Phillips are the best.

this is true. the higher the kelvin (color temperature) the lower the lumens (light output)

4100k are what oem headlights use. the color output has to do with the headlight assembly projectors. like how the s2000 blinds you with its blue white purple look.

i have 6000k hids in my civic and they come out purple/blue white no tint of yellow at all.

from my experience.
4300k yellow/white
5000k white/blue
6000k purple/blue white
8000k - i haven't seen these, but i believe you would get pulled over. cause they would be bright as heck! and would not put out a normal color. and the higher the kelvin temp. the less lumens output you get.

this is another compromise that you must choose, looks and light output (safety)
