How To: Custom PS/AC Delete

Seems like every kit that used to be made has been discontinued. Wanting to know what everyone's doing to accomplish this. Yes, this is for a trailor queen drag car.

AMS sells a P/S delete kit. Just in case you decide to just delete your A/C heres the part numbers; Gates K060578 and Napa 060569 . You can get either of these from your local autoparts store.

AMS no longer sells this kit, that's why I'm looking for an alternative.

True. I just checked it and yea it's definitely discontinued. I would still reach out to them or call and ask if they can put a kit together. They may do it, but it might cost more. Looks like your only shot

Tried that too. They can no longger source the pulley, and since it's a vital part of the kit, means I'm probably screwed.

Damn Im sorry to hear that.. They discontinued the kit probably because the demand was low and no one was buying them. I even think the "hard-core" drag guys keep their P/S because removing it doesn't save much weight, and driving an AWD car without P/S is a very difficult.

The only reason I could see someone removing it, is for space issues... Is that why you need to remove it? I'm just curious

I'm removing it for weight and to clean up the engine bay. Figured I might as well make things as simple as possible.

Wuld it be possible to unbolt the power steering pulley from the pump and use that, since that's the only part AMS can't source anymore?

so I've figured out that the pulley AMS used in their kit was a Gates Idler Pulley. Now I just need to find out what size pulley it was and I'll be set!

That's great news. Unfortunately I have NO idea what the dimensions are for the pulley. But I'm sure with some simple math (ie belt length), you can make your own kit.

I don't see a reason why not?? I mean if you fab up a bracket to hold the pulley in the same position, I wouldnt see a reason why you can't do it. If its in the same location, you could probably use the A/C delete belt

I've gotten all the info from AMS. According to their instructions and pictures, no bracket was ever used. The pulley would bolt to the PS pump bracket.

That's awesome they gave you the information / instructions to build the kit. Did they tell you which belt to run?

Also if you wouldn't mind, could you post pictures and list what's needed, when you're finished ? This would be great for anyone else attempting to do this, especially since not kit is available currently.. I'm also interested in some feed back from the setup.
