Cool, I may try it next time. I've seen those skids and have wondered what they were for. They look perfect for placing stands on, but was weiry of using them for stands.

The only bad news is related to pulling the front undercover to access the jacking point.
I took that thing off once and before I put it on I used a jig saw to cut a four inch hole right in the area where the jack pad goes to lift. Now I don't have to remove it every time and ruin clips and have to replace them with new ones.

I just use the factory jack point with my floor jack then use jack stands to support.

Love it. Shifts much smoother now. I also added the shifter bushings and it is even better. Still waiting on the under hood bushings.

ok...not to rain on anybody's party here, there is some good info. here, and I think I'm getting a jacking block ASAP.

FYI, putting the EVO on ramps is not an option. When I do the wheels/brakes/change tranny fluid/clutch etc... I would like the EVO on four jackstands. Also I don't want to continue to apply undercoating to the areas where it gets scratched off with 'regular' jackstands.

So...I figure I can get some nice polyurethane pads, but current jackstands really have something to be desired because of the V-shape all of the heads have.

Are there any jackstands that somebody knows about that have like a flat plate on them?

I figure a flat plate + some nice plastic 'should' keep the underbody looking 'nice.'

Thanks,

jcnel.

I would use a hydrolic jack about 2. There really heavy duty and should support the weight on the car. Lol but I would pay the man 20 bucks to change my oil.

Do they have enough 'base' area to be 'safe?'

four jack stands?
if you jack it in the right place you can get one whole side up , isn't that enough?

for some reason I have a problem with four jack stands. prolly not a problem, maybe just me.

fwiw I have to run it up on ramps just to get the jack in there where I want it.

Yeah...I imagine myself doing 'four corner' brake service, tranny service, etc...

I would just like to get the car up without having to 'have' any of the wheels on ramps.

So...I'm trying to 'find' a method of getting some 'nice' jackstands that don't have the potential of marring 1.) the undercoating and 2.) the metal of the EVO. The current and popular V-type jackstand heads, to me, are not acceptable.

Any more suggestions / ideas?

Thanks,

jcnel.

jack the front wheel up , take tire off ...add jack stand under frame , or a safe block of wood , remove jack , go to other end of car with jack ( kiddie corner ) and jack up car , take that wheel off and swap with other wheel....undo what you just did , and repeat for the other two tires... this is what i did when i rotated the tires on my 2001 Z24 , instead of jacking the whole car up.... but there is a big weight difference , and im not sure if that would be to much strain on the frame or something
