Jacked up headlight lens, HELP please. 56k warning

So when I bought my Evo, the lenses were pretty scratched up, so I used a lens restoration kit i've used at least a dozen times and had for a few years, I'm gonna go ahead and admit this was not a good Idea.

I waited a day for the lenses to dry after doing the same thing i've done the other 11 times and they stayed worse than cloudy, like milky.

At this point I decided I would go buy some VHT and see if a nice coat of spray with some clear would clear it up after buffing....

I did the tail lights first. Perfect! They turned out great, still look great a month later.

The headlights? WHAT THE HELL WHY ARE THEY CRACKED (looking) you can't feel the cracks but you can see them. All over, looks like spiders came and laid webs all over both headlights.

Is there anyway to fix this? I stripped the vht off using goof off and sanded with 1000 grit then 2000 grit so far and it's at this point...

Before....

That was a month ago, then last night I decided to try and fix these damn things when I saw how much a replacement set is, lmao.

So I guess my Question is, is this repairable? Would something like
Amazon.com: Meguiar's G3000 Heavy Duty Headlight Restoration Kit: Automotive Amazon.com: Meguiar's G3000 Heavy Duty Headlight Restoration Kit: Automotive
do the trick?

Thanks in advance!

Your going to need to wet sand them starting with like 400 and working up to 2000, then a good buffing compound

I was afraid of that to be honest, taking 400 to them seems so rough! But also like the only possible way to get through those cracks.

Would this work as a good compound?

it might work, but they make specific compounds for plastics that would work much better

here is a nice write up, and honestly 400 is probably too rough so 800 or higher would work

Hmm the plastic looks like it has cracked due to heat stress. I have never seen them look this way.

I would recommend taking it to a body shop or detailer and asking them to refinish the headlights. They have more experience and will have the equipment needed to get the headlights fixed. In my area they usually charge around 70 bucks for a pair.

Good idea, 70 is a hell of a lot cheaper than getting new headlights.
Thanks! I'll find a shop to take them to.

Looked for a shop, no one would quote me over the phone, decided I would just give it my own best attempt. Also didn't really want to spend more than 50$..

I started with 180 grit, yup 180 using a circular pattern, those cracks were DEEP.

I was able to get the little cracks out, probably 99% of the way, it took forever...
I then switched to 320 and went side to side cleaning in between each few passes.

I then went to a 600 grit and went Up and down, then 800 grit side to side, then 1000 grit sand paper up and down, then side to side with the 1000 grit disc on foam holder thing from Meguiar's Heavy Duty Headlight Restoration kit, I then switched to the 3000 grit and went up and down before polishing with the PlastX then finishing with the sealer.

Yeah i'm pretty amazed, they aren't perfect... but compared to how they were, holy ****ttttt.

Before...

After...

I'm pretty excited that all of it cost me less than 40$ and turned out better than they originally were (when I got it anyways)

What "Sealer" did you end up using?
