help with ETS 3.5 fmic on evo8

hi. i recently purchased a ETS fmic 3.5" for my evo8. i installed it tonite and everything went well for the most part. however, when i tried to put the front bumper cover on, i had a very difficult time. it won't slide on properly.

it looks like the metal mounting hole plates at the corners of the middle mesh are rubbing against the endtanks. i don't recall anyone mentioning the need to trim or do anything special. does anyone know if i'm doing anything wrong?? it's really annoying cuz now my endtanks are scratched up...

thanks a lot guys.

hey wario. wait, so you're supposed to trim the bumper??? there were no instructions in the box, and i remember ppl mentioning how it required no modification at all to install. thanks for the info.

does anyone have any pics on what they trimmed exactly?

i have my 3.5 on my 8 with no problems. only thing is i have the JMF manifold so my upper pipe sits lower can causes my pipe to be on the bumper. without the mani it fit perfect. I did remove the black air duct on the driver side though.

You shouldn't have to trim to put the bumper back on. I'm wondering if the t-bolts are positioned in a way that they would hit the bumper. If you could.. send me a couple pictures of the install to Michael@extremeturbosystems.com and I will take a look and see if I can see anything wrong with the install.

Thanks!

Michael

I just did this intall on an 8. The Bumper hits the Intercooler tanks. It hits where the two bolts in the Mesh attach to the car. We had to trim about an 1" x 3" in that area.

Evo 8 Trimming - This is usually on the 4.0" intercooler, but it may be required on some 3.5" installs.

*Trim the red line.

Didn't trim a thing on my VIII to fit the ETS 3.5in. ETS parts fitment are seriously painless. From turbo kit to piping everything like a glove

That's how the majority of the installs go. Every now and then we get an Evo that seems to be a Thursday/Friday car instead of a Monday/Tuesday

strange. i'm assuming that i put everything on properly seeing that the front brace went on without touching the IC at all. i've already went out and purchased a dremel tool. i guess i have no choice right now but to trim. so far only one person has mentioned having to trim while the majority of others say they put it on without any issues. i am just wondering if there is something i did wrong but i doubt it. thanks gsrboi

i'm gonna take out the mesh section entirely when i get home and try to put the bumper cover on to make 100% sure that it's the problem.
