Pull the center console. The radio should be held by some plastic black frame with screws on the side(2 or 4, I don't remember).
Start pulling the radio assy, you must unplug the antena soon because the cable is short and limits your mobility, once you do the antenna cable then you can pull the unit back.
Get yourself a cheap $2.99 tester light from Autozone. that is plenty of tool to finalize the install.
Once you have the tester light just clip the alligator clip to a good ground and just use the tip of the light to find the desire power source. It is that easy!!
Good luck!!

This may help you. I assume it is the same process for the IX:

Do I have to unhook the power from the battery when installing the supplied clamps for the power and what not?
And since I want the gauge on at all times, I would tap the defi white and orange wire to the brown wire on the cig lgither right?

ok guys i know Im a little late with this but here is the EASIEST way to do it. Get a test light from autozone, straus auto, or where ever. they are like 1-3 dollars. Its the best thing you can have for wiring. touch the tip to a wire and if it lights up...you have power. easy as that. All the wires you will need to tap into can be found on the harness for the radio. you dont have to go crazy searching for wires and asking others for what color wire to tap into. There is only one way to do it correctly. When the gauge is powered up it will illuminate(headlights on or off, it will be lit) when you turn the lights on(the gauge will dim)
Red wire is 12v constant.
Orange wire is 12v ignition on
white wire is small lamp on
black is ground
clip the alligator clips somewhere with a good ground and start probing the harness. Since the red wire is going to 12v constant, search for the pin that has power while the ignition is off. For the orange wire, turn the ignition on and look for another pin on the harness that powers up from the ignition. Now turn the driving lights on (one click foward) and look for the pin that powers up.
After you tap and solder, or vampire clip, the wires, hook up the link and test it before you go putting the dash back together. make sure to wrap the connections in electrical tape. For boost gauges I beleive you go to meter 2 on the link controler. if for some reason the guage is not lit, try going into meter 1. Pretty sure its meter 2 though.

OK, one word of advise. With The control unit, The orange wire is really a pita. I thought I had everything done, but the gauge didn't do a darn thing when I turned the car on. I should have verified my connections before I buttoned everything up, but it turned out that the quick wire tap didn't cut through the casing of the wire. Not only once, but it didn't on my second attempt either. The orange one seemed alot stiffer to me too. A word to the wise. Get a meter and verify that you make connections if you are going to use the quick taps. I personally will never use them again. They are easy going on, but if you mess up, they are not so fun getting back off.

I hope this can help someone, it would have helped me. Did mine last night and on the IX the power wire (the one you connect the red wire from the control unit to) on the radio harness is YELLOW.
The rest is the same as the VIII from what I have read. Orange to Brown on the Cig lighter, black to black on Cig lighter, didn't use the illumination wire.
