One way to do it is you hammer them out if your not going to reuse them then hit them directly if you are then use a piece of wood on top of it. Spray them with lubricant before hand.

The front studs can be changed without disassembling to hub. Just simply knock them out. The rears you have to disassemble to hub to get at them. Once the hub is out simply hammer them out. Pretty easy.

SO, without doing anything but taking the tire off, you just simply hammer out the studs and put the new ones in? You don't have to take off the rotor or anything?
Tomorrow morning I planned on changing out my wheelstuds in the front, would like a heads up on how to do this.
It just seems unbelieveable. Can anyone answer this?

You have to take the caliper and dust shield off but, other than that there is nothing else that needs to be taken off. Just take the 2 mounting bolts off the caliper and zip tie it to the suspension or rest in on something, obviously don't just let it hang in the air.

Its very easy.

I don't recommend just hammering at them. It's extremely easy to remove the entire hub and using a press is MUCH more suitable and your end result will be much better. The whole brake assembly should come off, bolts on the back of the hub come out, tap the hub out gently, put on press, press out old lugs, press in new, reverse. (that is if 7/8/9 is anything like a VI)
