evo 9 turbo install into evo 8

I have a 2004 evo 8 with the little 9.8 hs and am going to swap out to a evo 9 16g with the 10.5hs. Is everything straight forward? What/how will i need to modify the new turbo to fit LICP ? I know they sell install kits but i'm on a tight budget and would like to know how you guys get it done? thnx in advance for everyones help

Everything is straight forward, if you don't have the j-pipe you will need it. The lines (oil/water) can be bent to fit, I personally recommend the install kit as it will make everything that much easier. Good Luck.

You don't "have" to remove the radiator, but it makes life easier, and will reduce the chances of you damaging it. You can put cardboard over it, but still, the amount of room to work stinks. You really may want to buy the install kit. If you start re-using gaskets, you're asking for a problem. At the very least, the turbo outlet pipe is needed (j-pipe). You could bend the metal oil lines/coolant lines..but why take the chance? Here's an install kit for $139.

Yeah was planning on getting the kit to do the install. Have changed the turbos out of my RB26 with was an effort, dont think it could be any less room then that.

Thanks
