im having cooling issues. ill drive the car for half hour and the car will over heat. so i stop and let it cool down it goes back up. if i take it for a drive it easily cool down to normal temp...? so at idle its not cooling at all. changing the thermostat is the next option. i flushed the coolant and replaced with new coolant etc.

anyone know how to change it or have done it before?
also does anyone know if the evo 4/5/6 thermostat is the same as evo 7/8/9?

evo9ben on the 8 its real easy....

-remover upper hose and take out the housing there are 3 bolts 10mm i believe
-once the housing pops off the thermostat will be right in front of you, just pick it out
-and put the new one in and MAKE SURE you seal the housing with high temp silicone for leak free install
-bolt it back up and bam

 

^ This. Also make sure the little "dangly thing" sits at the 12 oclock position when you put the new one in. I'm not sure what its called but its a little bleeder for any air that might get trapped in the system.
