Fixing a Valve Cover????
A spark plug cover would be an ignition coil, he is referring to the valve cover, which covers the internals of the head. Best thing to do is have a machine shop helicoil the threads for you unless your really good with a drill. For chunks missing, I believe your only solution would be to find a new valve cover or use some JB weld as welding is out of question with it being made of magnesium.
lol spark plugs thread into the head not the valve cover, all the valve cover is, is a cover... you cant fix ones that have chunks missing. stripped threads he means where the spark plug cover goes.. you can retap those pretty easily
thanks everyone. But I still don't have the answer I am looking for.
Here's the next question then, what to do with the damaged valve cover? I know Mg is an expensive metal. Any ideas or past experiences ?

Fixing the holes where the spark plug cover bolts to the valve cover can be done by carefully taping the holes with larger threads as mentioned before. I would think that replacing it with a cheap used one would be less expensive and better looking than having it "repaired" by welding.
