DIY Zeitronix Clock Display Replacement

Hello all, I originally got this idea from another thread here and wanted to give this a try.
Zeitronix makes and excellent product and fits all my monitoring needs for the moment. Below I'll give a quick summary of pros and cons and a Quick Diy for those who want to give it a shot.

Pros

Stealth Install (Monitors without Gauges on pillar or Radio Bezel)
Excellent viewing in Night/Day
Eye line of Sight
Easy switching between modes with button
Zeitronix Features

Cons
Clock Removal (phone or aftermarket radio can replace it)
center vents Knobs must be removed ( Air still flows and is controllable, Also can close vent by using recirc button)
Display Veiwng Area is bad at some angles ( Looking to change information on screen with zeitronix newest software release.)

-=Tools=-
Philips Screw Driver
Sharp Knife
Metal FingerNail File
Hot Glue Gun
Solder
Zip Ties
Black Foam Fabric from metal carrying case
Radio Shack Button
Zeitronix Zt2 with Custom Display

-= Disclamiar=-
You guys no the drill. Follow this Diy at your own risk and Iam not responsible for any errors you may make.

-=Instructions=-
First thing is removal
I used the directions at this link and worked my way down
http://www.evolution-8.com/howto/dash.php#dash4

Once completed you will have something like this

Remove the vents and clock.

Next is the no turning back point
Break off the clips that hold the clock in, and shave the upper right corner to match its opposite side. Its kinda hard to see in the pic but easy once its in front of you

Next I grabbed the button from radio shack and chose a spot to install it. I decided to put it next to the hazard button. I used the Knife to work a hole for the button (go slow and don't make the whole to large).
Afterwards I used some wire to solder it to the button on the zeitronix controller board ( two inner Connections is where you solder too).
Added hot glue afterwards to keep the wire from moving.

Next Grab the fabric/plastic to cover the open/close vent knobs and hot glue it in.

Additional shaving is needed, but the tricky part is lining the display up so it is clear to read from the front. If you look on the display its easy to see the blocks. I made two marks on the white part of the display with my highlighter and lined it up by looking through the front. Afterward I hot glued four edges of the display Green backboard to the black plastic.

This is what it should look like from the front

Next choose a place to hot glue your controller board. I reinstalled the vents and hot glued the controller board to the bottom of the left vent. In the next pic shows the controller board in the middle but I moved it later on. Because it was bumping up against something when trying to install in car.

What it looks like completed from back.

Afterwards install into car remember to go slow and not break any clips
I mounted the zeitronix brain next to the ecu and secured it with zipties. Its easy to attach the wires needed to make the zeitronix work with your ecu in this location.
Picture coming soon

Here is what the install ended up looking like in the end.

Day time Pic ( sun was going Down and gave my iphone4 glare)

Night time Pics

Let me know what you guys think.

Great idea, but I'm not really digging the fitment or losing the vent controllers.

nice!

Is there a certain type of glue sticks needed for this? Interior temps can get over 140F in the summer.
