I didn't think it was easily done on evo 8/9 because it's cable based not solenoid based. If it is, I'd love to know as well.

Would have to add a solenoid actuator and an aftermarket remote to open the trunk but you might lose the handle and cable to open the trunk.

Above is right, need to add a solenoid to the trunk plus have a system that will activate it. It can be done on an 8/9 without losing the ability to actuate the stock pull lever as mine is set up that way.

This sounds like an awesome idea for a write-up, this is something I've always wished my car had.

I won't post pics as really it's just a solenoid mounted in place on the trunk hatch that pulls on the cable to unlock the trunk when actuated. An aftermarket alarm typically will have auxiliary outputs to actuate solenoids and so you'd wire that up to do so. On some cars you have to interrupt the line between the stock pull lever and the rear trunk lock mechanism, but on th EVO 8/9 you do not.

All I can tell you is it's possible because I have a Viper Alarm with my Aux output set up to actuate my trunk. Any competent Viper/Clifford/DEI installer will know how to do this.

Wish I could share more but I didn't do the work myself. I had it added when I had my alarm installed. The trunk solenoid is just bolted in place inside the trunk hatch with some additional strapping.

Sounds like it was racing before the trunk was popped open.
