So I blacked out the tail lights and they look great. Now I wanted to tint the head lights...so I used a tinting film and it looks pretty good from a distance, but when you get close to the lights you can see the imperfections around the edges and such so...my question is, would it be alright to use the spray for the head lights too? I'm not going to do it super dark, just enough for the smoke look. The lights look great and are not hindered by the film but I'm not sure how they will handle a paint.

I guess worse comes to worse I just remove the paint?

You can do 1 or 2 light coats but I don't recommend it whatsoever.

id say go for it. worse case if u dont like it just rub a little acetone on it to take the paint off

I wouldn't recommend it. And if you do use nightshades on the headlights go with light coats. I did it to my 04 WRX a couple years ago and they cracked. Also that nightstades stuff is a pain in the butt to try and get off once it's on.

i used the vht on my tail and head lights and it looks pretty good. i sanded them with a da sander then wet sanded them with 1000 grit. then sprayed them. i did 3 coats and i have no problems seein at night. and if you decide to take it off use carb or brake cleaner with a rag. then wetsand again and use a buffer with rubbing compound and they will look as good as new.

 

that looks really good on the blue paint, ive got a blue 8 bby, lookin at gettin rid of the ricer altezza look on the headlights and taillights, what did you do to prep yours for the paint man. im assumin wet sand and then a couple coats on the headlights??

 

Those headlights are different. The second picture has the insides of the headlights painted black, so it's not a true example of what the VHT spray does...

Your photo shows the inside of the headlight painted. The original poster of this thread is talking about tinting the outside casing of the headlight, not the insides.
