I did mine this weekend, turned out my balance shaft was out of time and not a faulty knock sensor. But as for the knock sensor removal i had access to a lift so i removed the passenger front axle, (so i could access the plug) then came from the back over the transfer case with a 3ft-4ft extension with a swivel crows socket (homemade notch cut out) and got right on it. took about an hour. But id say to check you balance shaft first before removing and going through the head ache of the knock sensor.

I'm getting 9 counts of knock under less then a psi of boost and the knock voltage is reading way low.. Gotta be the sensor?
